A Scent From Long Ago

In the spirit of tiny writing and short forms, today’s poem is a Shadorma (3-5-3-3-7-5) inspired by Georgia Heard’s Tiny Writing prompt calendar: A Scent from Long Ago.

A Scent from Long Ago

White Shoulders

her scent permeates

the gold box

containing

not just jewelry but her

presence ~ memories!

  1. Your short poem rembers me how powerful color words and smells are. It isn’t just any box but the gold one. It isn’t any perfume but the one called white shoudlers and that distinct smell immediately takes the write (and reader) to another time to be with her. So powerful is poetry/writing! Thanks for sharing.

  2. For those of us who knew/loved those who wore White Shoulders proudly as a scent for grandmothers and aunts, your first line had ALL the long ago smells resurfacing.
