Our hosts today for the fifth and final day of the March Open Write at http://www.ethicalela.com are preservice teachers, students at Aquinas College. Come on over and read their prompt as they inspire us to write a nonet.
All I can do is daydream about spending time with my grandchildren, so that’s what I do most afternoons in the 2:36-3:07 slice of my day. I have photos of my family on my desk, and I think on the happy memories when I was rocking newborn Silas, playing Yahtzee with 15 year old Aidan, and pushing Saylor and Noli on the swings, catching River and Beckham at the bottom of the slide, and helping Sawyer put on his new rollerblades at the park. These are the days I look forward to in retirement, and while I can’t be there yet, I can surely daydream about it……..
I’m proud of my seven grandchildren
days steeped in workday retirement
daydreams to spend time with them ~
rocking, reading, playground
visits, traveling,
loving them up
proud nana
full time
fun

Kim,
Yes you can daydream, and afternoons as the school day nears its end is the ideal time to let some daydreams sneak in. I remember your office cubicle photo and noticed all the photos of grandchildren in it. 🥰 My heart is w/ you as you describe what’s happening in each picture, and your monet distills the time w/ grandchildren in a lovely way. Enjoy those daydreams. Retirement is coming soon.

I am writing a different response here than I did over at Ethical ELA – love the addition of the photos, and look – YAHTZEE! I loved playing that game with my family when I was growing up. Quality time!! Grandchildren are a blessing beyond compare and THEY are so blessed to have you for their Nana, my poetic friend.

Kim, your adorable grandchildren are the perfect nonet topic today. I’ve yet to write mine. I am so behind. I love how you show your time spent with your grandchildren and the uplifting close to your poem. Beautiful!
