It’s time to play. I’ve learned the basics, played in practice, and taken good notes. I have the card and the desire to play. Now it’s time to join a group.

the bags to carry it all in.
And so it begins.
Common Threads 
The beautiful thing about Mahjong is that most groups are very welcoming. In each of my favorite ‘Home away from Home’ places, I’ve found groups open to guests playing. š

Debbie Lynn, we have found this to be true. I have decided to leave my set in the car just in case I find a place where it’s needed in my travels.

Debbie Lynn, the set I bought might become a travel set. It’s the 20.00 Hobby Lobby tiles and the 10.00 racks and the 10.00 mat and not the ones some of my friends are buying that cost hundreds. I’m thinking of adding a second extra-affordable set and leaving one in the car……because I never want to be without my Mahjong now. The fever has set in. ugh…….come play with me today at 1:00?

It is definitely an addictive game…and I would LOVE to meet and play a game with you. Any chance you’ll be in Galveston over the winter? Or Texas any time? š I still only have 1 set but my friend just bought a travel set…cute with its tiny tiles. And I’ve played on some very expensive sets, but when it comes down to it…it’s still the game that’s most intriguing regardless of the tiles. Do you put a dot on your card next to each hand you create Mahjong with? That’s a great idea to show what hands you’ve made and which new hands to try. š Happy Mahj-ing!

Yes, most groups, but not highly competitive ones, are welcoming! Trust me, it is just like pickle ball! SOME play to wipe out the opposition. However, I love the planning+luck combination of this ages old game loved by young ones and those of us who are not quiet so young!

Anita, I heard about one of those League groups. I don’t think they will be on my list to go play a round with….I still have to think kind of slowly about which street in which neighborhood I’m gonna play my line….and it takes a minute.
