The living poet I’m celebrating on this 19th day of The Slice of Life Challenge at Twowritingteachers.org is Hannah Rosenberg. She is the author of the collection entitled Same, containing poems from which I am using her existing lines to create an original Cento poem.
You can read more about Hannah Rosenberg on her website. Or, follow her on Instagram at @hannarowrites. You can also read this interview to learn more about Hannah.
Souls of Women
My life is filled with the souls of women.
They made pasta and Alfredo sauce, bought chips,
building a life we knew was fleeting.
It’s nice to know there are people out there, even if they are not.
Taken from: Marriage of Friends; Once Upon a Time in an Apartment in Boston; Roommates in my Twenties; Always at Home with Them.

I love the line “my life is filled with the souls of women.” Thanks for this daily inspiration to pay attention.

I really love the work of Hannah Rosenberg. She popped up on Instagram (there are some redeeming features of that app) and I was hooked. She gets to the heart of so many everyday moments of friendship and being a woman…every poem I read feels like it is speaking directly to me. Thank you for featuring some lines today that make me laugh “they made pasta and Alfredo sauce, bought chips.” Wonderful!

Kim,
I love seeing the unpaid labor of women celebrated. The paradox n that last line is perfect. I’ll be thinking about it all day, I’m sure. I concur w/ both Margaret’s and Giovanna’s comments. I need some Hannah this morning.

I am not alone in recognizing the power and truth in this line, “My life is filled with the souls of women.” My “women” are a diverse group of women. Some of them, like me, thought outside of the box even if they lived in it.

A centro poem sounds intriguing to write. These lines leave me thinking, ‘souls of women…building a life we knew was fleeting’ and now I’m hungry for Alfredo sauce and pasta! 😉

I love this. The simplicity and unexpectedness of the last line, especially.
