Today’s host at http://www.ethicalela.com is Dave Wooley, whose prompt (you can read it in its entirety here) inspires us to write short-form poems of ekphrastic bursts. I’ve chosen a place where I often have workday meetings during the slice of time between 1:32 and 2:03 as the focus of my poem, written in tricubes (3 stanzas of 3 lines consisting of 3 syllables on each line).

Oh my, there used to be such a coffee shop in Beacon, NY as sort of revived Hudson River town where artists and activists and NY City people up for the day drink fabulous coffee or wholesome teas and talk, write or just feel the day. I never wrote there, but I always felt the vibes in the walls and floors inspiring.

If I peeked in without lookin at the picture, I could imagine this spot. Perfect imagery in such few words. I love the tricube!

Kim, what a great idea for choosing your topic today. I love the tricube and the sweet coffee shop where you often have afternoon meetings. I like the story the artwork tells at this shop.

Kim,
Always love a peek into your favorite coffee shop. I bet the owners would love having a framed copy of your poem to display.

I am happy to see a photo of this inviting place, Kim. I would love to have a cup of coffee here among the “restored origins.” That idea is as alluring as the beverage, to me!
