Body Aches

My arms and legs don’t want to go to work today. The rest of me is dressed and ready, and my mindset is already thinking about the day ahead. My lower back will clock in at some point once I get moving, but my body is protesting Monday with tired, sore muscles after we refinished the kitchen table and a couple of chairs over the weekend. I can’t wait to share some before and after photos once the project is complete, but for today, I’m keeping my One Little Word front and center (pray) and my diopter word of the day is stand. I’m praying I can stand up and step out and struggle through the woes of an aging body trying to do what my younger body did without all the grief and agony the next day.

  1. Oh yes – I know this feeling well – I think I am my twenty-year-old self – and then the next day my body reminds I’m not. I can’t wait to see that table and chairs! I used to refinish old furniture when i was in graduate school. I loved that kind of work. I might find a small project I can do with minimal bending!

    1. Incredibly, these projects give instant gratification. One of my daughters always loved mowing the lawn and seeing the rows along the way, and the furniture flipper reminds me that this is a lot like mowing a lawn – you get to see the progress and feel joy when you finish. We don’t always see it so clearly in education (until we do, and then it’s wonderful), but a project like this can spark a tired soul. Also, I have raised up the small pieces on a table to bring them to my height, and that helps with the bending. Can’t wait to see if you find a small project!
