A Christmas Gift of Action Verbs

I shared in my post yesterday a way I’d discovered to incorporate positive action verbs into daily reflection and journaling. I’m giving a box filled with Jenga block words to a relative across the miles and making a twin set for myself. These will be the basis of texts and phone conversations to share what our words do for us, how they inspire us and keep us focused on all that is good. Today, I’m sharing the list I created. Each word should be read as an infinitive with intention, as a way of taking action and creating positive energy.

Merry Christmas!

  1. Two reactions, Kim: 1. I am blown away by the idea of sending words to a friend to promote lots of great conversations across the miles. 2. THANK YOU for this wonderful list, as I search for my own OLW, and indeed as I work to put stronger verbs into my writing.
    This is a gift!

  2. Kim,
When I saw this list yesterday, I wondered if you’re contemplating a OLW from it. Lots of good options here. Reading g the list again I thought about the dictionary word of the year. One chose “authentic.” That, of course, has me thinking about verb forms. I haven’t thought much about my 20/5 OLW, but I know it will come to me in time for next eeel’s post.

  3. What a wonderful list of powerful verbs! I love the idea that you and your relative will use these words as touchstones in your communication. I’ll be interested to see which of these you choose as your OLW for 2024.

  4. Happy New Year!! I am comtemplating what my OLW will be for 2024 and I was hoping someone blogged about it. YOUR list of words is helping me so much right now. I’m leaning toward: anticipate, balance, breathe, choose, complete, emerge, lighten, prioritze, prune, and walk. My plan is to pick and write about it tomorrow as it will be Tuesday! Really…thanks so much for sharing this list!

    1. Thank you, Sally! I’m so thankful that the word list helped you! I had fun making it, too – I plan to use many of the words this year as daily diopter lenses in the greater context of my One Little Word. I’m hoping you don’t mind if I share your linked blog post in the link I will share as tomorrow’s Slice of Life post. This is one of my favorite times of year when I learn about the words friends choose and the reasons for the choices. Thanks for reading!
